Did you know that 500 million people watch Instagram Stories every day?
Stories are an excellent way to capture your target audience’s attention and give them what they want — a behind-the-scenes look at your business, a close-up view of your product, or a quick win that they can get from your content.
This is why I recommend using Stories to build a connection with your audience and grow your online community.
But how do you create Stories that people will watch? And how do you get them to take action on your content?
In this post, I’ll show you how to create an Instagram Stories strategy that will help you achieve your business goals and get more eyes on your content.
1. An attention-grabbing headline
One of the first things you’ll notice about social media videos is that they often don’t have sound. This is because many people scroll through their feeds with their sound turned off, and you want to make sure your message gets across no matter what.
So, how do you let people know what your video is about if they can’t hear the audio? By adding a headline, of course!
A headline is a short piece of text that appears at the beginning of your video. It should give viewers a quick idea of what your video is about and entice them to keep watching. Think of it like the subject line of an email or the title of a blog post.
2. A question or intriguing statement
Grab your viewers’ attention right away by starting the video with a question or intriguing statement. This can also help you identify your target audience and let them know that you understand their needs.
For example, in the below video, the question “Tired of spending hours creating social media content?” is a great way to start the video and grab the attention of someone who may be interested in a social media content creation tool.
After you’ve hooked your viewers with a question or intriguing statement, follow up by introducing your brand and the topic you’ll be discussing in the video.
3. A personal introduction
People want to do business with other people, not with faceless corporations. That’s why one of the most important things you can do in your marketing videos is to introduce yourself and show your face.
This is especially important in your social media videos, where you may be reaching people who are new to your brand.
In the example below, I introduce myself and my topic right at the beginning of the video. This helps establish my authority and credibility, and it also helps to create a personal connection with the viewer.
4. A call to action
Every video you create should have a goal, and your call to action should be directly related to that goal.
If you want to get more likes and comments on your video, then ask your viewers to do that. If you want to send traffic to your website, then tell your viewers to click the link in your caption. If you want to increase your brand awareness, then tell your viewers to follow your profile.
Your call to action should be simple and easy to do. And remember, the easier it is, the more likely people will be to do it.
5. Subtitles
Subtitles are a great way to make your video content more accessible to a wider audience.
By adding subtitles to your videos, you can make sure that people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who speak a different language, can still enjoy your videos.
You can also use subtitles to highlight important points, quotes, or calls to action in your videos, which can help you get your message across to people who might be watching with the sound off.
There are a few different ways you can add subtitles to your videos.
If you’re creating a video from scratch, you can use a tool like Kapwing to add subtitles to your video as you edit it.
If you’re uploading a video that you’ve already created, you can use the built-in tools on your social media platform to add subtitles to your video.
6. A watermark
Watermarks are a great way to subtly brand your videos. They can also be used to protect your content from being stolen and used without credit.
A watermark is a semi-transparent image or logo that is placed on top of your video. It’s a good idea to place your watermark in the bottom right or left corner of your video, so it doesn’t distract from the main content.
You can easily add a watermark to your video using video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. If you don’t have access to video editing software, you can also use a free online tool like Kapwing to add a watermark to your video.
7. A filter or effect
Filters and effects can be added to your videos in post-production. They can help you create a certain mood, highlight a specific color, or make your video look more professional.
You can use filters to help your video match the aesthetic of your feed, or to make your video stand out. You can also use effects to add a little flair to your video, like a lens flare or a glitch effect.
8. Music
Music can be a powerful tool for setting the tone of your video. It can also help you fill any awkward silences or provide some background noise if you’re filming in a busy place.
When it comes to choosing the right music for your video, you have a few options. You can either select a track from a royalty-free music library or upload your own. If you’re using a music track that you found in a library, you’ll want to make sure you have the right license to use it in your video.
If you’re uploading your own music track, you’ll want to make sure you have the right file format. Most social media platforms will accept MP3, M4A, WMA, and WAV files.
When adding music to your video, you’ll want to make sure that the volume is appropriate. You don’t want the music to be so loud that it drowns out your voiceover or makes it difficult to hear what’s happening in the video.
9. A branded intro and outro
Last but not least, don’t forget to include a branded intro and outro in your video.
Your intro should be short and sweet, and it should quickly introduce your brand and the topic of the video. You can also include any relevant text or graphics in your intro.
Your outro is your last chance to leave a lasting impression on your audience, so make it count. You can include a call to action, a link to your website, a link to another video, or anything else you want your viewers to see.
In addition to your intro and outro, you can also include your logo and any other branding elements throughout your video.
Conclusion
Overall, creating social media videos is an effective way to get your audience to pay attention to your brand and engage with your content. To make sure your videos are successful, consider adding these elements to your next social media video post.
